"But, Professor..."

"I saw the whole thing, Professor. Maxwell cast a Langlock Curse on Donna. She only used magic in retaliation."

"Well then, i have an idea. If you two want to cast spells on each other, you two can be the first ones to duel later in my class."

"We're going to be dueling each other in Defense this year?"

*Donna looks excited*

"In that case, I'd be glad to help, Professor."

"Of course I'll help, Professor."

*Maxwell looks at Donna*

"I could show this amateur a thing or two about dueling."

"It's on, Torvian. But, just a heads-up..."

*She glares at Maxwell*

"I play to win. Don't think for even a moment that you can beat me."

"I've got three words for you, Lunaria."

*He pokes Donna's shoulder with his wand with each word*

"Bring. It. On."

"Well I guess it's settled then"
*a crash is heard from another car*
"Not another one"
* howland leaves*

*After Professor Howland leaves, Donna glares at Maxwell again*

"I look forward to our duel, Torvian."

*She goes back to her seat*

*Maxwell sits down, silently pulls out a spellbook, and studies it*

*The rest of the train ride passes without incident. The students meet up in the Great Hall. The new students are Sorted, and the feast is served. After the feast...*

Headmaster McGonagall: "A warm welcome to all new students, and welcome back to all returning students. As you may have heard, Death Eaters are gathering in an attempt to revive their master, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that every student learns advanced Defence Against the Dark Arts techniques. Therefore, all students will be practising duelling in Defense Against the Dark Arts."

*There is a mixed reaction from the students*

McGonagall: "Please understand that this is for your own safety and well-being. That is all, students. Please proceed to your House common rooms and rest up for tomorrow's lessons."

*The next day, at breakfast, everyone is sitting together and discussing their schedules. Donna, Maxwell, Yuna, Annette, and Altan have the same schedule, starting with Defence Against the Dark Arts. They proceed to the DADA classroom*

*Maxwell glares at Donna as he walks past her seat. He takes his seat and waits for Professor Howland*

*Donna is reading a book. She leans over to Yuna, who is sitting next to her*

"I've been reading up on the rules of duelling. This book says that every combatant can choose a second as backup. Would you mind being my second?"

"I guess I could give it a try... I 'm not very good with offensive spells, but I can back you up with Charms and Jinxes."

"Thanks, Yuna. I knew I could count on you."

*Maxwell overhears Donna and Yuna, then turns to a Slytherin boy named Louis*

Max: "Hey, Louis. Professor Howland asked me to demonstrate dueling today, but I need a second. Care to back me up?"

Louis: "Depends. Who's your opponent?"

Max: "'Lunatic' Lunaria."

Louis: "Lunaria? Awesome! I'm in!"

*Maxwell turns to Donna and looks at her smugly*

*professor howland walks in and makes his way to the front of the class*
"as you all heard, it is now required for all students to participate in duels this year."
*he walks over to maxwell and donna*
"are you two ready to demonstrate the first duel of the year?"

"Ready, Professor."

"Yes, Professor."

"just remember, if any one's life is threatened i'm required to jump in. other than that it's all you two."

"Yes, sir."

*Donna turns to Yuna and whispers to her*

"Try and get off a Dancing Feet Jinx on him. While he's busy with that, I'll Disarm him."

*Max turns to Louis*

Max: "You know what to do."

Louis: "Right."

*They both turn toward Donna*

"We're ready, Professor."

"We're ready as well, sir."

"well if you two are ready, bow and begin."

*Donna turns to Maxwell and bows*
