"i think it was more of an opportunity they had... but if they did have something against us it might be because we got an artifact for our museum before them."
*he walks over to lani*
"couldn't it hun?"

"ohh. i forgot about her. i must have taken a little more damage than i thought. she would be a good pokemon for you to check out."

"All right, then."

*Eros takes out an Xtransceiver and speaks into it*

"The culprit is definitely a Chansey. Prime suspect is a museum owner, but we cannot ignore other Chansey. Set up a perimeter around the Capital. We cannot let the suspect leave the city. Furthermore, detain and question any Chansey found outside of a Pokemon Center."

*He puts away the Xtransceiver and turns to Akumu and Lani*

"Thank you for your time. We will notify you immediately when the suspect is caught."

*He turns and leaves the Center. Max watches him leave*

"Heh. Nice cover-up, Lani. He fell for it, hook, line, and sinker. We don't have to worry about him anymore."

*Lani blushes a bit*

"To be honest, I didn't make that up. Believe it or not, one of our rivals really is a Chansey. I just saw an opportunity to bring her up and throw the inspector off of our trail."

*Ane smiles at Lani*

"Don't be so modest, Lani. That was very good. Now, with any luck, we'll be able to track down Carina without interruption."

*She takes out the map and points out a spot on it*

"We need to proceed to this block. It is very likely that Carina resides somewhere there."

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go already!"

*The group proceeds to the area marked on the map*

"We've arrived. Now, fan out and search the crowd. If you see any Pokemon with Carina's eyes, apprehend her immediately. I will use my mind's eye to watch the entire area from above and notify the rest of the group when Carina is found."

"Sounds like a plan. But shouldn't we stay in groups of two? Strength in numbers, you know."

*Ane smiles knowingly at Lani*

"I understand. You don't want to leave Akumu alone. Very well. Split into groups of two and search a five-block radius."

"All right. Akumu and I will go north."

*Lani takes Akumu's arm and leads him north*

"Okay. Kakoro and Ken, go east. Max and Void, search south of here. Yuki and Koshka, head west. I will stay here and use my mind's eye to keep watch over the entire area."

*Koshka and Yuki search the western area. After nearly an hour of searching...*

"We've searched the area for an hour now. I don't think she's here."

*Suddenly, she stops and whispers to Yuki*

"Yuki, look! That Absol over there... I think it's Carina!"

*The Absol looks in their direction. Its eyes are a deep blue, rather than the normal red*

"Aha! We've found her! Let's go! Shadow Sneak!"

*Koshka fades into shadow and sneaks up on the Absol*

*The Absol notices Koshka sneaking up on her*

"Night Slash!"

*She swings her blade-horn, and a wave of darkness flies from it and hits Koshka's advancing shadow. Koshka is forced from the shadow*

"Who are you? What do you want with me?"

"Don't play dumb with me. You know what I want with you... Carina."

*The Absol glares at Koshka and shows her teeth*

"How? How did you see through my disguise?"

*She suddenly leaps toward Koshka*

"Shadow Claw!"

*She slashes at Koshka with a claw cloaked in darkness*

*Koshka dodges the attack. The crowd has formed a ring around the two combatants, watching the action*

"Looks like we've drawn an audience. Unfortunately, they're not getting a show from us."

*She takes out Ane's 'pocket gateway' and activates it. A portal appears in front of her*

"You're coming with me."

*Koshka grabs Carina and drags her into the portal. It closes behind them*

*Yuki rushes through the crowd and picks up the box*

"I'd better keep this safe."

*Meanwhile, in the pocket dimension...*

"What kind of trickery is this? Where are we?"

"We're in a pocket dimension. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but in here, we can battle without worrying about collateral damage."

*Koshka flashes a devilish grin at Carina*

"This is where I can let loose and show you what I can really do."

*Carina looks around*

"A pocket dimension... How strange. Well, since we're isolated from the city, I suppose I can show you who I really am. Heart Swap!"

*Carina's body changes back into her natural form. She is a Gothitelle, but her body is scarred, and her face is battle-worn*

"Now you know who you're dealing with. Pop singer by day, warrior of vengeance by night. I am Carina!"

*She points at Koshka*

"I hunt down all Pokemon of the evil types: Ghost, Dark, and Poison. You, as a Necturna, are a Ghost type, and must be destroyed! Psychic!"

*She sends a wave of psychic energy at Koshka*

*Koshka takes the attack. She stands her ground*

"Dark-types are evil, huh? Tell me, then: Why were you disguised as a Dark-type if you hate them so much? Power Whip!"

*Koshka swings her arm like a whip at Carina*

*Carina jumps over Koshka's arm*

"As much as it made me sick, it was necessary to further my plans! Shadow Ball!"

*She throws a ball of darkness at Koshka*

*Koshka dodges the attack*

"You even use Ghost-type moves as though they were second nature to you! And yet, you claim that we are evil! If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a hypocrite! Metronome!"

*Metronome turns into Seed Flare! Koshka emits a shockwave of nature energy*

*Carina braces herself. The shockwave hits her and knocks her off her feet*

"Agh!"

*She stands up slowly*

"Calm Mind."

*She focuses and calms herself*

"Now... Shadow Ball."

*She creates a giant Shadow Ball and throws it at Koshka*

*Koshka is unable to dodge the attack. She is left lying on the ground, barely conscious*

"Nngh... You..."

*She tries to stand, but falls again*

"You won't... get away with this... Carina..."

*She faints*

"Haha! Justice always wins!"

*She looks around*

"Now... How do I get out of here?"

*Meanwhile, outside of the pocket dimension...*

*Yuki sees the group and runs to catch up with them*

"There you are! Koshka found Carina and brought her into the pocket room. I don't know how she's doing, but I don't think it's a good idea for me to go in alone. Could someone please go in with me?"

"I will go."

"Wait, Ane! What if... there's no way out? We need you out here."

"But if there's no exit... whoever goes in there may not come out."

*There is a prolonged silence. Lani takes a deep breath*

"I'll do it."

"Lani, be reasonable. If, as you say, there is no way out, then you will be trapped in there."

"But someone needs to go in and make sure Koshka is okay!"

"What about Akumu? How would he feel if you were lost forever?"

*Lani closes her eyes*

"I don't want to leave Akumu... But someone has to check on Koshka. I... I'm the weakest of all of us. My loss wouldn't affect the group nearly as much as anyone else's. I should be the one to go in."

*She turns to Akumu*

"Honey... If I become trapped in there... Remember that I love you."

*She kisses Akumu*

*akumu kisses her back*
"There is no reason to worry, I have faith that you will return. There is no way arceus would separate us."

*Lani embraces Akumu for a while, then lets go and turns to Ane*

"Activate the machine."

*Ane presses the button on the box. A portal opens into the pocket dimension. Lani enters the portal, and it closes behind her*

"Good luck, Lani."

*In the pocket dimension...*

*Lani steps out from a portal next to Koshka's unconscious body*

"Koshka!"

*She checks Koshka*

"Koshka... lost? But then... where's Carina?"

"I'm right here! Psychic!"

*Carina sends a wave of psychic energy at Lani*
